The Auction & Purchase Process

From winning bid to delivery — how a purchase runs.

1. Win the auction
The highest bidder when the lot closes wins the right to buy. The winning bid is the lot price you are purchasing at — we do not add a separate buyer’s premium on top of your bid. Delivery distance charges (if any) are separate and explained below.

2. Order & Agent review
After you win, submit the order. Nothing is charged at checkout. A Heavy Thing Agent contacts you by phone or email to confirm your details and whether the deal is deposit or payment in full.

3. Pay on invoice
You pay by bank transfer using the invoice and payment reference we send. A deposit (when used) is part of the purchase price, not an extra fee. On full-pay deals, the full lot price is settled before transport is booked.

4. Transport to you
Once the required payment is confirmed, we schedule delivery to your address. Free for the first 1,000 km; thereafter $1 per extra km, settled on delivery. Typical delivery is about 3–12 business days (route and carrier dependent).

5. Delivery, balance & inspection
On deposit deals, the remaining balance is due on delivery. Your 10-day inspection period starts from delivery. It is to confirm the machinery matches its disclosed condition — not a change-of-mind window. If there is a material issue that was not disclosed, contact your Agent promptly; valid cases are handled under our Auction Policies (including refund timing where applicable). Any ownership or paperwork transfer is completed in line with the sale terms once the deal is finalised.

Stock Sourcing & Our Role

Where equipment comes from, and what Heavy Thing does in the sale.

Origin
Lots offered through this channel are typically finance-recovered assets held by a finance partner and released for auction to resolve an outstanding obligation. We source plant, machinery, and equipment from these partners — not from random private trade-ins on the public market.

Our role
Heavy Thing acts as an auction broker / facilitator. We do not take ownership of the equipment in the ordinary course. We run the listing, bidding, buyer communication, payment instructions, and delivery coordination so the transaction between the finance partner and the winning bidder is clear and orderly.

Price you bid
Commercial arrangements with the finance partner are built into how the auction is run. You are not charged a separate buyer’s premium on top of the winning bid. You pay the agreed lot price (deposit or full, as confirmed with your Agent), plus any applicable delivery distance charge over 1,000 km.

Finance clear-out & ownership path
As a condition of sale, outstanding finance on the lot is finalised through the finance partner so ownership can transfer cleanly once you have met the payment terms. Your Agent will guide timing on any required paperwork.

Location before delivery
Until the auction is won and the required payment step is confirmed, the machinery remains in a secure partner facility (not in day-to-day public use). After confirmation, we arrange transport to your address. On deposit deals the balance is due on delivery; the 10-day inspection window then runs against the listing disclosure.
